Budgeting Loans in Northern Ireland

Budgeting Loans are interest-free loans from the social fund available for people receiving certain benefits for at least six months. A Budgeting Loan can pay for:

  • furniture and household items
  • clothing
  • rent in advance
  • moving costs
  • costs while seeking employment
  • travel costs within the UK
  • maternity costs
  • funeral costs, and
  • home improvements, maintenance and security for your home.

How to apply

To apply for a budgeting Loan, contact your nearest Social Security or Jobs & Benefits office and ask them to send you a claim form. Alternatively, you can download the form and fill it in yourself.
