Veterans UK is part of the Ministry of Defence and is a dedicated support organisation for service personnel, veterans and their families. Veterans UK administer the Armed Forces Pension Scheme and the War Pension and Armed Forces Compensation Schemes. We also provide a dedicated Welfare Service and Freephone 24-hour Helpline for veterans of any age, and their families.

Pensions and Compensation
There are a number of compensation schemes administered by Veterans UK on behalf of the Ministry of Defence available to serving and former serving personnel who are injured as a result of their service in the Armed Forces.
- You can claim under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme (AFCS) for an illness or injury that was caused as a result of service on or after 6 April 2005. You do not need to have left the Armed Forces before claiming.
- Assessment, award, payment and maintenance of war pensions, related allowances and other payments for those disabled or bereaved through service before 5 April 2005.
- Veterans UK administer the Armed Forces Pensions Schemes, the occupational schemes for those who have served in the Armed Forces. It is very important to keep us informed of your current address especially as you reach retirement age - call the JPAC on 0800 085 3600 to update your details.
Veterans Welfare Service (VWS)
The Veterans Welfare Service (VWS) is committed to enhancing the quality of life for veterans and beneficiaries of Veterans UK pensions and compensation schemes, and all their dependants via a national network of welfare managers across the UK and Republic of Ireland. One to one advice is provided by phone or home visit when needed.
It also provides support to enable the seamless transition from service to civilian life, assist bereaved families or respond to life events that present welfare needs.

Our helpline staff offers specific advice on War Disablement Pension and Armed Forces Compensation Scheme claims. The helpline also offers advice on other issues including benefits, pensions, loans and grants, emergency accommodation, finding a job, retraining, health issues, welfare concerns, service records and medals.
When the helpline is closed, callers will be given the option to be routed to Combat Stress or The Samaritans 24-hr helpline.
Ilford Park Polish Home
Ilford Park Polish Home is a residential and nursing care home in Devon for former members of the Polish forces under British command in World War 2, or who were displaced from Poland following World War 2, or their spouses. Ilford Park Polish Home meets a wartime UK government promise made by Winston Churchill.
