The Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 - How does this affect you?

The Carers (Scotland) Act was implemented on 1 April 2018 with the aim to support carers’ health and wellbeing and help make caring more sustainable.

The new legislation places responsibility on local authorities to provide support, information and advice to carers. Find out more on the Legislation.gov.uk website.

Paying for social care

From April 10th 2017, new guidance means that veterans in Scotland will no longer have to use their compensation payments from the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme to pay for social care.
