Although it is often an emotionally difficult time, it is important to consider getting help with funeral costs. You may be eligible to receive a funeral payment from the Social Fund. Visit the Ni Direct website to learn more about eligibility and to apply.
Help from the state
You may be eligible for financial help if you are on a low income or claim certain benefits. See the GOV.UK website for more information.
If the deceased died in Service
If the deceased died in Service, the Armed Forces will pay for many of the funeral expenses. Visit GOV.UK for more information.
If the deceased was a war pensioner
If the deceased was claiming a war pension, and their death was caused by, or hastened by an injury incurred while serving, you can make a claim for help with funeral costs through Veterans UK. You must make a claim within three months of the funeral.
