How Mission Motorsport, a new Veterans' Gateway referral partner, helps with finding work

Veterans' Gateway aims to be the first point of contact in assisting veterans and their families with information and advice across areas including healthcare, housing, finances and more. And with less than a quarter of veterans finding work our employment partners can quickly identify career resources, at any stage of the job-hunting process.

Recently we featured a number of ex-service personnel who have successfully transitioned from the forces into new careers, with our partners' help.

Mission Motorsport, the Forces motorsport charity, a new Veterans' Gateway referral partner, has been helping former RAF aircraft engineer Sgt Ben Norfolk.

Ben was medically discharged having suffered from complex PTSD, anxiety and depression as a result of his experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Thanks to the support he received from Mission Motorsport Ben now works for a company that restores and races vintage pre-war Bentleys, and has been selected to take part in the British GT Championship.

Ben described his new sense of purpose: "Being involved in motorsport - the adrenaline, teamwork and joint sense of purpose - makes me feel alive again. I've been incredibly lucky."

Mission Motorsport is the official provider of disabled and adaptive sport to those in need from the service and veterans' communities. Its mission is to aid recovery and rehabilitation by providing opportunities through motorsport, with support from veterans, serving personnel and automotive professionals.

From karting to training qualifications and work placements with companies including Jaguar Land Rover, and Formula E, it provides unique support.
