Defence Medical Welfare Service (DMWS)

The Defence Medical Welfare Service (DMWS) has been providing a dedicated medical welfare service to the Armed Forces community since 1943. DMWS operates in hospitals and recovery centres in the UK and overseas. Some of the ways they can help include:

  • Practical and emotional support for patients and families when receiving medical treatment
  • Making an independent and impartial early assessment of needs
  • Helping to explain and resolve any medical care issues
  • Intelligent signposting and supported referrals to other organisations and services
