The Veterans Welfare Service (VWS) is part of the Ministry of Defence and sits within Veterans UK. They provide support, guidance and information to veterans and their families via a national network of welfare managers across the UK and Republic of Ireland.

One to one advice is provided by phone or home visits when needed (please note that provision is severely restricted at the present time due to Covid-19). They specialises in helping clients making claims to the Armed Forces Compensation scheme, War Pension Scheme and DWP benefits.

They also provide support to bereaved families and those responding to life events at any point during their lives that present welfare needs.

VWS is the first point of contact for veterans needing help with legacy investigations and inquests. They can also help veterans and their family members with enquiries that relate to all aspects of housing, finances, employment, mental and physical health. They work with partners throughout central and local government and a range of charities to help its clients access the support and resources they need. VWS is part of Veterans UK alongside Defence Transition Services (DTS).
